The Houhere tree is a small graceful tree, with beautiful white star-shaped pure white flowers and the leaves are spear-shaped with distinctive toothed margins. The inner bark separates into lace-like layers, sometimes found washed up on beaches. The leaf is hand cut from silver plate, filed, sanded, and a long stem is soldered on. The background is stamped with the inner bark from the tree and the flower is cut and hand textured.
