The Houhere tree is a small graceful tree, with beautiful white star-shaped pure white flowers and spear-shaped distinctively toothed margins. The inner bark separates into lace-like layers, sometimes found washed up on beaches. The leaves are hand cut from silver plate, filed, sanded, and a long stem is soldered on. A satin finish is applied followed by hand textured vein patterns.
